Chain Projection
Chain Projection is a feared ability used to manifest lengths of chain from the fathoms of her native realm to ensnare and rend her victims into pieces. Deathly chains with bladed hooks are conjured out of this air through portals opened between the earth and the Schism, the hooks latching into her victims’ flesh upon which they’re pulled back into their origins, ripping apart their flesh and severing limbs. It’s a violent, though multi-functional ability not only reserved for physical combat or torture; it can be used to restrain assailants, but also to scale tall structures, repel into deep areas and move objects too heavy for her to carry herself physically. The amount of chains projected from the Schism is infinite and made off an indestructible alloy that requires one to remove the hooks agonizingly from their flesh to break free. There are certain limitations to this skill, for the control over their movement is limited to straight trajectories without bends or turns…
Interdimensional Teleportation
Originally from another dimension known as the Schism, Xantie can travel between the earth’s realm and the Schism once her Lament Configuration is activated. From this point forward she can instantaneously move from one location to another without physically occupying the space in between through using the Schism as her portal. The instant movement from one location to the other isn’t combat-orientated, rather a mere tool to transcend towards the person who’ve solved her Lament Configuration and come to the few entrusted with her true name. The use of this name functions as a summoning into the Schism calling forth her arrival, yet in desperate times she can also use the interdimensional teleportation to evade enemies and even move others rapidly from one place to the other. To travel through the Schism a sacrifice of flesh is required, which to Xantie is already paid, but whenever others demand to pass through this realm they’re bound to pay a fee in blood…
Clairvoyance
Xantie can think of a place or person, and observe with their mind what they are presently doing. Users may view a person’s present actions or may see important landmarks without having to be near to the target. Through this process she’s enabled to trace where targeted objects/subjects are located, followed by identify the whereabouts almost instantly without ever having been there. Training has allowed her to even guide her marked targets through their environment, gifting them with a mental map that avoids them from getting lost. The interpretation of these signs is open to her speculations, yet positioning is instantly. There are many limitations to her clairvoyance since she can only remote view through the eyes of those people who’ve solved the Lament Configuration or those branded with the mark that connects their souls to the Schism…
Necromancy
Like all Cenobites Xantie is a master necromancer of incomparable skill: she can reanimate the deceased into soulless empty vessels that will fend for their master, summon forth the souls of the damned who’re trapped between the world of the living and the death and in limited circumstances can bring people back to life through resurrection. Evidently limitations are bound to her abilities, every aspect facing certain boundaries she’s still unable to transgress. Reanimation is only functional upon long deceased bodies what’ve perished through an act of sin (murder, rape, treachery, etc). Summoning is only useable upon the souls she’s harvested herself or those belonging to the solvers of the Configuration. The last aspect of her necromancy is the most reserved to given circumstances upon the people she’s dragged into the Schism; victims taken alive into the Schism can be tortured to the point of total discorporation and reconstituted indefinitely if taken alive, but she cannot resurrect a person who has died by hands other than her own…
Pain Immunity
Xantie is entirely immune to physical pain of any kind, allowing her to think clearly and continue to move despite grievous injury. This immunity to pain comes from her origins within the Schism where she practices the gruesome art of mastering pain; she exposes herself sadistically to extreme conditions such as physical mutilations and torture, learning to render her mind entirely immune to the sting of pain. Initially practiced as an ability to be switched on and off based on given circumstances, Xantie now has no control over this natural absence of agony, making her permanently immune to it. This also leads to a drastically lowered physical sensation of anything touching her skin (outside & inside)…

Voice:
Human
Soft soothing melody with a odd pronunciation on the consonants “s” and “r” and “v”, similar to an French accent dating back to the turn of the 18th century. There’s an admirable flair to her voice with a note fairly similar to those naïve girls she works within the adult entertainment business (playful and provocative, but naughty and tempting at the same time)…
Cenobite
Harrowed whispers like rusted nails carving across aged blackboards, speaking seems to demand excruciating effort on her part. This deprives the dreaded voice of audible strength, yet adds a dark grimness to every word uttered across those blackened lips. The same odd pronunciation presents itself in demonic form, yet in worse conditions as those consonants are now unspeakable to her…
Fashion & Makeup:
Fashion (Human Form)
Xantie is hyper-sexual which transpires into her fashion sense that’s dominated by seductive lingerie, provocative dresses and tight-fitted clothing that emphasizes her natural curves and contours. She has a candid preference for natural products, especially of animal origins, which leaves her with a wardrobe filled with fur coats, leather outfits and endangered species-boas. There’s however a personal detest towards all synthetic materials crafted from polymers as she’s reluctant to comply with ongoing modernizations within this earthly world. Her most renowned fashion trademark is her luscious selection of French lingerie from the rarest unmatched craft, all custom tailored and ordered from famed designers from the City of Light where she was first summoned. Another trait is her affinity towards high heeled shoes for not a single flat piece of footwear has ever embraced her elegant feet; knee-high boots, stilettos, heeled pumps and open-toe heels are just a few of her praised collection…
Make-Up (Human Form)
Xantie has this demonic yet immensely seductive natural beauty that doesn’t require any form of make-up to accentuate her facial features, but through her professional field of work certain make-up is required and accompanied. Smokey eyes, light glossy lip balm and dark nail polish are the subtle hints of beauty-emphases that add to her appeal, yet in most circumstances these details aren’t present in her day to day appearance within Hollows’ streets. Whenever at work however these make-up accents are demanded off her to reflect more distinctly onto film, yet in many situations Xantie will set into the spotlight au naturelle…
Fashion (Cenobite Form)
Xantie in Cenobite form has no fashion sense as she’ll make her appearance entirely in the nude; through self-inflicted mutilations her skin has on countless places been torn open in the process of scarification, metal rods and wires keeping the wounds eternally opened. Her neck from the bottom of her chin to the V-line of her bust is spread like a wide gate; the flesh from her head ripped and carved out into a lion’s mane that gives her a daunting ominous appearance. Though nude entirely, the nakedness is remarkably concealed by the inflicted injuries that draw away the attention from exposed body parts including the distinct female attributes. Occasionally when surfacing as Cenobite in the city she will shroud her body into tight body-embracing leather/latex outfits that cover the remaining skin and expose the typical scarification marks with underlying organs visible…
Make-Up (Cenobite Form)
Xantie doesn’t utilize make-up in cenobite form, yet through the use of her own blood and that of her victims she traces various patterns and textures onto her skin. These symbols painted on her skin aren’t esthetic markings, but heinous pagan brands from the Schism that’s main intend is to embody fear. Lips tainted in darkened demon blood, eye shadow made from the gal of lycans, nails dyed with the stomach acid of vampires, various other creatures having all lost their lives to add new crests to the demonic appearance. Her Cenobite ‘make-up’ is in fact her personal score board to all victims she’s destroyed through her dark rise…
Sociability & Emotionality:
Sociability
In society Xantie is an outside by personal choice, someone who remains within a limited amount of locations comfortable to her and wherever her summoner’s command her to be. She’s vile and cruel, horrible hostile towards all others but those converted to her current master’s rite. Without a doubt she’ll use force and violence to punish those ignorant enough to dispute her heritage and those of all branded by the Schism. With a malicious nature originated through an era of dark practices and self-mutilation, depriving herself from common emotions and senses, she’s now rendered above the human entities she was spawn from, making her look down upon their insolence of an existence which can only be liberated through death…
Emotionality
Xantie is a bipolar individual with a natural two-faced persona; each face and matching personality reserved to one group of people in her life, one being those summoning her through the Lament Configuration, the other group consists of all other people in the world unsubmitting to the Rite. Outsiders are looked down upon, loathed in a heinous way that’s founded upon a vile arrogance. Her behavior is founded into dark teachings which has tainted her personality to the extend rational emotions are stricken from her character. Towards the few who’ve activated the Lament Configuration and complied with the affiliated rules are blindly obeyed without question. In these circumstances she’s a submissive soul devoted towards he or she who’s opened the portal between the earth and the Schism. This obedience is however linked to an ill-temper, somewhat reluctant to continue granting her own life and abilities in service of another. This makes her a treacherous individual, not shunned off stabbing someone in the back or betraying them in a split second with deathly sting…

Background:
The story of Xanthiphilia Lucidique Phalidemoclivardis is a long and dreadful tale that writers throughout history all shunned to note in the archives, leaving only the rumors and hush whispers to tell the legend of this vile woman’s creation. There are countless versions that speak of how Xanthiphilia Lucidique Phalidemoclivardis came to rise above her human self into the tarnished body of the heinous Cenobite she is today for one knows all cenobites were once before mere humans so desperate that they reached out to the dimension often confused with Hell. Her real name and identity will have forever gone lost on this world, a Cenobite willingly parts with this trivial past for the harrowed sting of their eternal condemned lives, yet one can’t help but speculate on the origins of this demonic fiend. Numerous version of her existence have floated around out there, but only one managed to leave its mark in written history to become the illustrious tale of Countess Elizabeth Báthory de Ecsed. Hear this dreaded tale of the woman so obsessed with her beauty she condemned herself to eternal damnation within the gruesome fires of the Schism for herein does fall some truth to Xantie’s human life before her conversion to the darkness…
Elizabeth Báthory was born on a family estate in Nyírbátor, Hungary on 7 August 1560 yet spent her childhood at Ecsed Castle. Her father was George Báthory of the Ecsed branch of the family, brother of Andrew Bonaventura Báthory, who had been Voivod of Transylvania, while her mother was Anna Báthory, daughter of Stephen Báthory of Somlyó, another Voivod of Transylvania, was of the Somlyó branch. Through her mother, Elizabeth was the niece of the Hungarian noble Stefan Báthory, King of Poland and Duke of Transylvania, granting her certain privileges and respects reserved to the highest of nobility. Amongst them, Elizabeth was the first woman to be permitted a formal education learning she learned to read, write and speak Latin, German and Greek as well as rudimentary mathematics and theoretical sciences specifically human anatomy, physiology and toxicology. Her life was worthy of her title, filled with grand banquettes to attend, handsome suitors to entertain as she became a gorgeous lady of high society. Elizabeth was engaged to Ferenc Nádasdy, in what was but a political arrangement within the circles of the aristocracy. The couple married on 8 May 1575, in the little palace of Varannó, after the generous donation of Csejte Castle, situated in the Little Carpathians near Trencsén together with the Csejte country house and 17 adjacent villages. The marriage however was a mirage, just a political game to grant the countess a title and function far beyond her initial status as during the Long War from 1593–1606 she was given command with the defenses of her husband’s estate and the nearby route to Vienna versus the marching Ottomans…
The power caused the lady to go obsessed with her fading beauty for as she grow older and initial wrinkles started to show in her otherwise flawless complexion, she feared her looks would one day disappear. Desperately she sought ways to evade the inevitable, turning towards a side of humanity people would rather have hidden in the darkest of corners; Elizabeth Báthory began experimentations with forbidden arts and dark magic to seek a way to preserve beauty from aging. Her search lead to dark ominous paths into damned believes and false gods, crimes of the most heinous nature committed all in the failed attempts to cling onto a passing grace that faded with every day of passing. Her hunger for beauty knew no ending as she found way to preserve her youth in an act most heinous of all: the bathing in virgin blood. Using her title and resources affiliated with cette title she’d demanded the abduction and imprisonment of countless young women who suffered a faith far worse than death in the various atrocities that would shed their pure blood. Severe beatings over extended periods of time, often leading to death, burning or mutilation of hands, sometimes also of faces and genitalia, biting the flesh off the faces, arms and other bodily parts, freezing to death, surgery on victims, starvation, sexual abuse and the use of needles were but the few methods she experimented with to achieve extended effects. She’d devoted her entire existence to capturing the essence of youth, initially in secrecy yet when the bodies started piling up the court started catching onto her vile actions until in 1602 word of her crimes reached the ears of Lutheran minister István Magyari...
The notaries collected testimony from more than 300 witnesses; the trial records include the testimony of the four defendants, as well as thirteen witnesses. Priests, noblemen and commoners were questioned. Witnesses included the castellan and other personnel of Sárvár castle. According to all this testimony, her initial victims were the adolescent daughters of local peasants, many of whom were lured to Csejte by offers of well-paid work as maidservants in the castle. Later, she is said to have begun to kill daughters of the lesser gentry, who were sent to her gynaeceum by their parents to learn courtly etiquette but abductions were said to have occurred as well. The court wasn’t mild upon the countess’ account, though in a way still showed mercy towards the honorable title and heritage she once upheld. Instead of execution she was sentenced to house arrest, being walled into her own castle where she’d spend the remainder of her days in captivity to wallow in her madness of isolation. This is where the truth parts from documented history; the written story goes that Elizabeth Báthory continued to live as captive within those dreaded walls for four years until she eventual died a slow and painful death, reality however was much graver and sinister than any story could have foretold. Elizabeth turned in one final act of desperation towards an ancient fiend that lurked within the shadows, a faceless monstrosity without a name, without past but stains upon the history of war having stood on the birth grounds of plagues, wars and revolutions. She sold her precious soul for eternal life, summoning eternal damnation onto her existence which she proudly accepted. Her body was never found, merely the odd markings of chains and hooks cut through the marble castle stone as she was dragged into a realm between those of the death and the living…
This is where the story as told ends, though none can understand or know the reality of these hush whispers taken for truth and none knows what occurred in the gap between the disappearance and the reckoning of Xanthiphilia Lucidique Phalidemoclivardis. This fact however was documented on the stormy night of the 13th of February 1732 in the Thermes de Cluny in downtown Paris. A renowned French toy maker was hired by an unknown man to create an innocuous-looking puzzle box for a client obsessed with dark magic; the order however was completed yet not according to initial request for two instead of one box was created. These boxes becoming better known in occult circles as a damned artifact branded with the ill-spoken name Lament Configuration; one box with black and gold was handed to the client, the interior of the box brilliantly polished but the reflection of its user always was distorted, fragmented and scattered across the lacquer. The other box black and crimson without a reflective surface or polished end, just a matt surface far more intricate and complex than the first for it was handed to a faceless demon to plea for his life. This demonic fiend entrusted the device with powers beyond reason, a portal to a realm where life was unbound from the laws of physics into a universe beyond the Paradigm. The other box turned towards the client whose dark magic accidently linked with the demon’s forming a second portal to the Schism which became hell on earth. Two Lament Configurations, two portals to the Schism and two fiends from a forbidden place who were able of being summoned by those devoted to solving the puzzle box…
Both boxes’ whereabouts remained unknown but stories grim and sinister about the Lament Configuration did travel across the globe; horrible tales linked with the evil the boxes unleashed sprouted from all corners of the world, inspiring writers to create demons without comparison into life, yet always did they speak of the gold and black box. A demon of human origins could be conjured through the solving of the box, a task reserved to only the cleverest of minds that needed to devote countless years to this obsession with the world beyond. Once unleashed the guardians of the Schism are in servitude of the solver for as long as the price of their existence is paid in full; a price of blood that betrays how the hunger grows stronger with every feeding until even the most hardened of minds would break under the tormenting greed of these demons who were given the dreaded title of Cenobite. The Cenobites were treacherous beings whose price is ever-growing for their obedience is off limited time; once opened the Lament configuration demands the sacrifice of one life before the first cycle of the moon ends, ten lives for the second, one hundred for the third until armies and nations need to be slaughter to pay the fee as those reluctant to pay face a faith far worse than death: an eternity of suffering in the Schism where Time is an abstract and death but a malleable concept…
While one Cenobite became famed as Guardian of the Schism Gate aligned in the black and golden Lament Configuration the crimson-black box’s location remained unknown as did the Cenobite that defended this entrance into the Schism. None ever knew of its existence, the innocuous-looking puzzle box forgotten until Nazi soldiers spoke of an object very similar in the hands of their faceless master behind the curtains. The second Lament Configuration was sighted in the possession of Grither, the diabolical monster than left the history of mankind branded with black chapters until he once more disappeared from the face of the earth after the end of WWII as did the box. The Lament Configuration was nowhere to be found, believed to still remain in the possession of the ancient demon who’d once more returned to his lasting slumber. Now Grither reemerged in the city of Hollows where he rapidly gained followers in the crowded Underground; criminals, thieves, murderers and rapists alike were in total disarray after their late Kingpin departed, leaving a void to be filled by Grither. Somehow it’s believed he still carries around this peculiar puzzle box which makes one believe the Lament Configuration might be of great importance to the origins of his power, but until opened by someone the secret remains forever sealed…
